Prepper ammo stockpile12/15/2023 We may want to avoid the grabbed/gone calibers, but we also want to avoid something super oddball that isn’t on shelves or belts routinely at all. If grabs and post-event resupply are a concern, remember not to get too carried away with finding an “other” caliber. They’re just not as popular (or, not anymore) so they’re available longer. They’re common enough to already be on shelves, and common enough that in any group of 15-20 hunters, CCW’ers, and sports shooters we’re likely to find at least one carrying them. These are the ones that are more immune to the gun grabs, as well as to lowered availability when imports and manufacturers refocus and go all-balls after the NATO and AK rounds disappear and jump in price. The variety gives us a lot of versatility. Good news: Common calibers are generally less expensive during “normal” times than new and less-common ammo, and they typically come in a wide range of off-the-shelf loads and bullets/molds and powders. Bad news: The most common calibers are the most likely to disappear and skyrocket in price during grabs. There are two big draws to common calibers, and a drawback. Personally, I love my ugly hack-chop sporterized 8mm Mauser K98/98k Frankengun … but I love her as a hunting, fun-fire, and “some situations” home-defense rifle, not a bugout platform.Īmmo origins is just a consideration we need to weigh. Plenty have gone with AK, SKS, Mosin-Nagant’s, and others. Flip side: What if we have to leave/lose our stockpile? How easy will it be to source that caliber during grabs and “after”? ![]() Some foreign ammo is inexpensive enough to buy and ship in bulk, so whether or not it’s ever on brick-and-mortar store shelves might be irrelevant. ( Preexisting armory and human resource capabilities/limitations, too.) Along with them, though, keep the most-likely and immediate-need use(s) in mind. The factors here apply to any firearm, for any purpose. It’s a huge topic on its own, one that deserves the focus of an article. ![]() Our specific shooting plays an enormous role in how much gun we need. Really, though, all of us can benefit from weighing pro-con’s and some general checkpoints before we pull the trigger on a purchase. ![]() It also applies to beginners and prepperswho face encumberments like regulations, limited range access, and unsupportive spouses/housemates (of either preparedness or firearms). It’s less likely they’ll be adding to either their arsenal or ammo stockpile as much or as quickly as those with more disposable income. This focuses on general factors and options to consider.įor people on a budget, working through a mindful selection process when buying a gun is even more important than others. This isn’t a “buy this” article of 5/7/10/14 “must-have” guns for preppers. I’ll touch on some specific types, calibers, and platforms here, but mostly just as examples. First off, I want to acknowledge that there is no one right gun – not for everyone and not for every task.

Armand assante now12/15/2023 He was intimately involved in the selection of the brand. It wasn’t simply a licensing deal that was being done, it was something that Armand was coming into hands-on in the development of this project from conception to store.Īrmand did all of the things you would expect a small brand owner to do. There was something unusual about Ora Vivo. Ora Vivo was a small batch project that made its debut in 2013. Armand, Gary, and Victor formed a partnership to bring Ora Vivo to market. Through Chicago-area broker Gary Macchione, he was introduced to Victor Vitale. Armand was a cigar enthusiast and was looking to get into the business. In 2013, Armand Assante launched his own brand Ora Vivo into the marketplace. And while some celebrities have shown an interest in the cigar industry, only a select few have made a commitment to the industry. At the same time, when someone with celebrity status has shown an interest or entered the industry, it has generated a lot of excitement. The handmade premium cigar industry has always embraced the idea of being a small cottage industry. While premium handmade cigar making and digital entertainment are opposite sides of the spectrum, Assante is embracing them both and looking to bring his two worlds together as he also sets his sights on returning to the premium cigar business. More recently, he has been involved in a digital media entertainment project called VirtualCons. He’s also been a cigar brand owner and one who has embraced the old-school techniques of the handmade cigar-making process. Throughout his career, Armand has been known to be a cigar enthusiast. Do women get equal pay12/15/2023 ![]() The WNBA signed a new players' contract two years ago that raised average pay to $130,000 and guaranteed full salary while players took maternity leave. Still, some NBA players, like Celtics player Enes Kanter Freedom, have spoken out against pay gaps in basketball, while WNBA Commissioner Cathy Engelbert has call for more equal pay. The NBA is projected to make $10 billion in revenue this season, while the WNBA will reportedly make $60 million, according to Forbes. The NBA launched in June 1946, while the WNBA only debuted in 1996. And while the gov and employers need to make big changes to close the gap, there are ways you can help - and earn more now.Crowder and LaVoi note that the NBA has had a 50-year head start in building a fanbase, sponsorships and media buys, helping to explain why one league financially outperforms the other. The gender pay gap holds women, especially most BIPOC women, back from wealth-building and financial independence. If more people are open about how much they make, the lower the odds they'll unknowingly accept less than they're worth. Transparency is key to exposing inequities. The nation needs to work together to take down barriers to equal pay. Latina’s Equal Pay Day will fall on October 5, and Native Women's Equal Pay Day will be on November 30. Working moms - who earn 62 cents for every dollar working dads earn - will reach equal pay with working dads on August 15 this year, also per AAUW. Black Women’s Equal Pay Day is on July 27. This year, Equal Pay Day - which marks how far into 2023 a woman in the US would need to work, on average, to catch up to a man’s pay from 2022 - fell on March 14. Various Equal Pay Days have been established to bring attention to the pay gap. Another example: The "double bind," a catch-22 where women need to be assertive to get what they want, but are penalized or seen as too aggressive when they ask for it. Example: Men, who are the majority of managers, are less willing to mentor female employees, which hurts women's odds of advancing. Oh, and gender-based discrimination is still a thing. ![]() That can cut into their work hours or stretch them too thin. Women are also often expected to handle unpaid caregiving for family members. Why is this happening?įor one, traditional gender norms often funnel women into lower-paying roles (think: home health aides and child care workers) and discourage them from higher-paying jobs. Getting paid less contributes to a much bigger wealth gap between women and men. This affects more than just today's paychecks. On average, Asian American, Native Hawaiian and Pacific Islander women earn 80 cents, Black women earn 64 cents, Hispanic and Latina women earn 54 cents, and Native American women make 51 cents for every dollar a man makes, according to US Census Bureau 2021 earnings data as analyzed by the National Committee on Pay Equity. Overall, women get paid 77 cents for every dollar a man earns. But overall, women still aren't earning as much as men. In 1963, the Equal Pay Act made it illegal for men and women to get different pay for similar work.

Morning reflection catholic12/15/2023 Are you facing a new opportunity for evangelization or service but aren’t sure you can meet the challenge? With Jesus as your “fulcrum,” you can. Are you struggling with a sin pattern? You can move it as you stay rooted in Christ. Then we can move all the things that need to be moved in our lives. A typical comment from an actual subscriber: These reflections have taught me so much. Podcasts of the daily reflections are included in the Telegram app and daily email deliveries. Subscribe to the Good News Reflections email, podcast, and text message. The key, as in all things, is to stay connected to the Lord. Terry Modica’s daily reflections make the scriptures meaningful for your everyday life. We can’t “believe” our way into something that God doesn’t want for us! We need to be founded firmly on Jesus-on his wisdom, his will, and his plan for our lives. All the “mulberry trees” in our lives would literally fly into the sea! But that’s missing the fact that our faith is only the lever. It can be easy to read this passage and conclude that if only our faith were stronger, we would be able to do just about anything. That makes them awfully hard to uproot! But Jesus is saying that the “lever” of our faith doesn’t have to be large at all to move such a massive tree. Mulberry trees have very deep roots and can grow to be as tall as seventy feet. He tells his disciples that a rather small force-“faith the size of a mustard seed”-is enough to move a mulberry tree. This image of a lever and fulcrum can help us understand what Jesus says about faith in today’s Gospel reading. Vibrant timing belt tensioner12/15/2023 The core of the visionary concept is built on socio-economic development with focus on the elements of inclusivity, common prosperity and win-win cooperation. We pay tribute to the vision and statesmanship of President Xi who, ten years ago, propounded the Vision of a Community with a Shared Future for Mankind, introducing a novel concept for international development partnership, a new idea for global governance and cooperation, and a fresh approach towards international exchanges, thus drawing up a new blueprint for a better inter-connected world. I would soon be traveling to Beijing, on my first visit after assuming office, to participate in the Third Belt and Road Forum for International Cooperation - the event that will mark the completion of a decade of Belt and Road Initiative (BRI), the iconic and visionary project of President Xi Jinping. The unique relationship of seven decades - underpinned by the rationale of strong political support, mutual trust and all-round practical cooperation - has matured into a strong strategic partnership. The historical evolution of Pakistan-China relationship, and its growing importance in the wake of evolving regional and global developments, remains an exemplary model of inter-state relationship. Monks and thinkers from China made their historical journeys to Taxila and other Buddhist places in Pakistan, painting a beautiful picture of Gandhara civilization and bringing Buddhist wisdom to China, thus binding the two nations together in an everlasting bond. The flow of trade through the ancient Silk Road and geographical proximity brought the two great Asian civilizations together. Certainly, Pakistan-China relations are the continuation of ancient civilizational bonds that had existed between the two nations since ancient times. Zhou Enlai, China’s first Premier, once said the friendly interactions between the peoples of China and Pakistan date back to the dawn of history. The close time-tested friendship with China enjoys the abiding support of the people of Pakistan.ĭespite the vicissitudes of times and changes in international landscape, the all-weather Strategic Cooperative Partnership has grown into a towering tree with its deep roots of love in the hearts of the two peoples. Pakistan’s relations with China remain the cornerstone of our foreign policy. It is heart-warming that in China, the term ‘Ba Tie’ (Iron Brother) is reserved only for Pakistan. Pakistan and its people, I can say with absolute confidence, value the relationship greatly, and proudly call China our ‘Best Friend’. The vision of the leadership of our two countries at the time laid a solid basis for a relationship which has subsequently been carefully nurtured into a robust, vibrant, time-tested, all-weather strategic cooperative partnership. It is an account of brotherhood, friendship and trust whose foundations were laid more than seventy years ago. ![]() ![]() The tale of Pakistan-China relations is not an ordinary one. Andy slavitt johnson and johnson12/14/2023 ![]() If a vaccine prevented asymptomatic infection, it might help reduce opportunities to transmit the disease - not just keep the vaccinated from getting sick. More research is needed, but the FDA analysis also hinted that the J&J vaccine may help prevent asymptomatic infections.Ī January study from the CDC showed that most coronavirus cases are spread by people without symptoms. For example, in the first week of the Pfizer vaccine rollout, there were only 29 cases out of 1.9 million doses administered, according to the US Centers for Disease Control and Prevention. There have been a small number of severe allergic reactions with the Moderna and Pfizer/BioNTech vaccines. Overall, non-fatal serious adverse events were infrequent, according to the FDA’s analysis, and there were no reported cases of anaphylaxis following vaccination in the trial. The vaccine comes with few side effects, most of which are mild, including pain at the injection site, headache, fatigue and muscle pain. Paul Offit, a vaccine adviser to the FDA, told CNN’s Wolf Blitzer on Friday. “One dose will keep you out of the hospital, keep you out of the intensive care unit, and keep you out of the morgue,” Dr. In the US, it is considered 72% effective, and offered 86% protection against severe forms of the disease. Globally, it was 66.1% effective against moderate to severe/critical Covid-19 at least four weeks after vaccination, according to an FDA analysis. The vaccine was tested in more than 44,000 people in the US, South Africa and Latin America. “The Janssen vaccine candidate checks nearly all the boxes.” “We’d want to see a reasonable duration of efficacy and protection. Greg Poland, head of the Mayo Clinic’s Vaccine Research Group, said Friday. “We need a vaccine that can be quickly mass produced,” Dr. The vaccine is authorized for people ages 18 and older. It’s a single dose, and it doesn’t require special storage. The vaccine, made by Janssen, J&J’s vaccine arm, is safe and effective, and it’s considered flexible. “A third safe and effective vaccine is very welcome news,” Andy Slavitt, the White House’s senior for Covid Response, tweeted on Friday. With more than 28.4 million confirmed Covid-19 cases in the US and nearly 511,000 reported deaths since the start of the pandemic, and while the demand for vaccine still far exceeds supply, these vaccines can’t come soon enough. It is the first single dose Covid-19 vaccine available in the US, and is one that “checks nearly all the boxes.” (CNN) - The US Food and Drug Administration authorized Johnson & Johnson’s Covid-19 vaccine Saturday.

Visual pinball 9.9.112/14/2023 ![]() ![]() This isn't related to RL at all and there's nothing we can do about it as it needs to be fixed on the PinballX end. But by the sound of it looks like you can't do that and to make things worse PinballX is always verifying if it can find the tables on launch. RL will support multiple paths without any problem, but I don't think PinballX supports them right? If it does then you just need to set it up so you are using the exact same paths on both PinballX and RL. So I'm guessing this changed meanwhile? If that's the case I'll need to know the default system names for any other systems, so for Pinball FX2 is PinballFX2, what about Pinball Arcade does it also have one? If so let me know and I'll send you an updated plugin file for you to test.Ģ) Rom paths. I followed bleasby's instructions for the plugin and this means the only system names RLUI will recognize are FuturePinball and VisualPinball everything else needs to be added as custom systems. I don't use PinballX, but reading through this I think your 2 problems are:ġ) RLUI (not RL) not detecting Pinball FX2 as a system. I don't know why they include the file extension on the variable anyway, but if they had this new variable we would be able to surpass some other issues on the RocketLauncher side of things also. Maybe it would work if your tables are in something like this: C:\Tables\Visual Pinball\VP X (FULL SCREEN) (direct2bs)/Terminator 2 - Judgement Day (Williams 1991).vpxĪnyway, the best way to solve these issues and any other future issues with Pinball X is to ask the Pinball X developers to add support for:ġ) Do not search for the table existence or if it searches, search for more subfolders deep within the tables path.Ģ) Add support for multiple table folders.ģ) Add support for a PinballX variable with the table name but without the file extension, something like. Did you tried that?Īlso, did you tried to use C:\Tables\Visual Pinball as your table folder? Maybe Pinball X only searches for dirtect subfolders for the table. Maybe you could surpass that if you use a custom system instead of the built-in visualpinball support for Pinball X. Yah, the dummy file workaround probably will not work for both RocketLauncher and Pinball X them. You can see at the end of my video that I get an error because Pinball X tries to load the dummy file. I added text documents with correct table names and changed the extension from txt to VPT and VPXīut again PinballX only looks and loads the tables specified by Pinballx I cannot/don't want to combine this folders in to one and add the tables in to their own sub folders.Ĭan you please expand on the dummy files/ I see that there are newer versions to download but I hesitate do do that before I get the current installment to work.Everything works in RL all the tables are found in their respective folders and launched with their proper VP exe.Īnd Yes even VP 10 works with the current module.Ĭ:\Tables\Visual Pinball\VP 9.9.1 (FULL SCREEN) (direct2bs)/Asteroid Annie and the Aliens (Gottlieb 1980)Ĭ:\Tables\Visual Pinball\VP 9.9.1 (FULL SCREEN) (Physics MOD 5) (direct2bs)/24 (Stern 2009)Ĭ:\Tables\Visual Pinball\VP X (FULL SCREEN) (direct2bs)/Terminator 2 - Judgement Day (Williams 1991) What information should I post here to make it easier to find the problem? ![]() The Twister.vpt is located here: C:\Program Files (x86)\Visual Pinball\Tables ![]() The backglass is placed in: "C:\HyperPin\Media\Visual Pinball\Backglass Images" and named Twister.png.
